Dutch health insurance for expats

Is there such a thing as Dutch health insurance for expats? Well, several health insurance companies publish their policies in English and are directly targeting international workers but as far as we are aware, there are no Dutch policies especially for expats living in the Netherlands.

If you are Dutch and moving abroad as an expat, it is a different story.

Some big international insurance companies offer specific global coverage expat policies but even if you have one, all residents in the Netherlands are required by law to take out Dutch health insurance within four months of arriving and registering at city hall. If you don’t you will be fined.
